PLAQUE AND TARTAR-NATURAL REMEDIES
Introduction of Plaque:
Plaque is a sticky, colorless substance that constantly forms on the teeth due to deposition of bacteria and bacterial products, food substances and saliva. It has the ability to retain stains and can lead to unsightly appearance of teeth unless it can remove by maintaining good oral hygiene.
It usually forms on the teeth almost 4 hours after brushing them so it is imperative to clean the teeth at least twice a day and to floss them on a weekly basis.
Introduction of tartar:
Tartar is the hard substance that permanently sticks to the teeth as a result of deposition of calcium as well as phosphate salts in the plaque. It is commonly known as calculus. This can cause entrapment of stains as well as can cause teeth discoloration.
It is impossible to remove tartar simply by brushing the teeth and can remove only by dental professionals by the process of scaling. Maintenance of good oral hygiene can prevent the formation of plaque and tartar.
Plaque and tartar built up pave way for orodental diseases.
