Kohler disease-pain


          It is a rare disease. This disorder is related to the foot bone. It is a consequence of stress-related compression at specific times during the period of growth. This disease is manifest by limping caused foot swelling and pain. It occurs mostly in the age range between 3-7 years. It affects males more than female. Typically, one foot becomes vulnerable to this.


The main symptoms of this disease are following:

  • Pain
  • Swollen foot
  • Tenderness along length of arch
  • Discomfort
  • Difficulty in walking
  • Interrupted blood flows to foot bone
  • Bone degeneration

This disease is basically an idiopathic disorder. It is not a heredity disorder. The possible causes of it are following:

  • Due to injury in the area around navicular bone
  • Delayed bone formation
  • Structural weakness
  • Retarded bone age
  • Vascular trauma
  • Weight bearing pressure and stress
  • Ischemia
