Introduction:

Milia is a white bump or small cyst that usually form on the nose, around eyes or on the cheeks. Newborn babies are more vulnerable to this disease which usually cured within few weeks but this trend varies in adults or in older children in which it may last for few months. It is also known as milk spot. The cysts forms when keratin trapped under the surface of the skin. Keratin is, basically, a strong protein that is found in skin tissues, hair, and the nail cells. It is sometimes confused with baby acne because this acne is triggered by mother hormones.

Causes:

The exact cause of this disease in infants or in newborn babies is unknown. It causes acne due to the maternal hormone. It does not cause swelling. In adults or older children it is basically due to some type of damage to the skin, such as:

  • Blister formation due to some skin disorder
  • Skin resurfacing
  • Burns
  • Excessive use of steroids creams
  • Long-term sun exposure
  • Blister injury

Types:

The main types of the disease are:

  • Neonatal milia: cysts usually appear on upper torso, scalp, and face
  • Juvenile milia: It is due to a genetic disorder
  • Milia en plaque: associated with autoimmune skin disorder or due to a genetic disorder
  • Primary milia: due to trapped keratin
  • Multi eruptive milia: itchy patch formation
  • Traumatic milia: cysts occur where injury on skin
  • Milia associated with drugs

Introduction

It helps to remove excessive oil. It also used to get rid of dead skin, so used to avoid milia.

Ingredients:

Introduction

Honey act as antioxidant and humectants. It helps to retain moisture and avoid dryness. It also helps to exfoliate the skin.

  • Honey : 2 tbsp
  • Jojoba oil : 1 tbsp

Mix honey and jojoba oil and apply it on the face and wash it after 15 minutes. Repeat thrice a week.

SUGAR SCRUB FOR MILIA

Introduction

It helps to exfoliate your skin. Lemon juice brightens your skin and olive oil made your skin softer and smooth.

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil : 1 tsp
  • Sugar : 2 tbsp
  • Lemon : one-quarter or half piece

Remedy:

Take the lemon juice from their pieces and mix it with other ingredients. Now scrub this on your skin for few minutes. Leave for 20 minutes and wash your face. Do it 2 times in a week.

COLD COMPRESS FOR MILIA

When a person suffering from milia, the cold compress helps to lessen the swelling, inflammation, pain as well as tenderness that caused by milia.

Remedy:

Wrap few ice cubes in a thin towel. Apply this pack on the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this a few times a day.

Note: Do not apply ice directly on the skin, as it may cause frostbite.
